FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my child too young to see the orthodontist?
No, in fact a lot of the early development of your jaws happens when you have your baby teeth. That is why the American Association of Orthodontics recommends a visit to your orthodontist by the Age of 7 or earlier if there are concerns. Additionally orthodontists will screen for any developmental issues such as impacted teeth so the earlier you know the earlier we can plan the best course.
Do I need a referral from my dentist?
No, Rise Orthodontic Studio offers complimentary consultations. Schedule online or call the office if you have any concerns.
Why should I see an orthodontic specialist?
As a specialist Dr. Larson has treated thousands of patients across all ages. At Rise you will have many options for treatment instead of just one. You can choose which option best suits your lifestyle.
How much will treatment cost?
Treatment is custom to your needs. Generally, more complex cases do have a higher investment. At Rise we believe a healthy confident smile is one of the best investments in yourself, and we provide interest free financing over the course of your treatment time with flexible payment options. We will also file your insurance and apply any benefits you are able to use. Your future self will thank you!
Do I need to have teeth removed?
Today’s orthodontics is not like your grandma’s. The philosophy and technology has evolved and advanced the profession such that we do all we can to minimize the removal of primary and adult teeth and rarely prescribe the removal of teeth any longer.
Do I need to see my general dentist with during treatment?
We strongly recommend you continue your regular cleaning appointments with your dentist during treatment.
Does my child need an expander?
After a comprehensive initial visit Dr. Larson will discuss if an expander is necessary. Remember, there are options that can be discussed and tailored to each patient. For example, you can review the removable Invisalign Palate Expander or a fixed mini expander and choose what is right for your child.
Can my orthodontist fix my jaw pain?
Dr Larson has completed advanced training in TMJ Disorders and works with a network of other medical colleagues to find and address the root cause of the pain you are experiencing. Sometimes aligning your bite can help reduce TMJD symptoms, and other times it does require the help of a physical therapist, chiropractor, botox, sleep medicine physician, neurologist or orofacial pain specialist and Dr. Larson can help point you in the right direction.
Can I buy a nightguard at the store?
Please don’t. Dr Larson can fit you with a custom night guard to ensure that it properly fits and will not cause more harm in the long term such as tooth shifting and changes in your bite.
How do I know if braces or Invisalign are right for me?
At your initial visit Dr Larson will review the benefits and draw backs of each appliance with you. The best part is YOU PICK! Both braces and Invisalign will require your participation. Thankfully, Dr Larson has taken advanced education courses in complex aligner treatments as well so you’ll be in the best hands at Rise Othodontic Studio.
Does Invisalign cost more?
At Rise Orthodontic Studio, our goal is a healthy confident smile. Therefore, we do not charge more for Invisalign vs braces. Your smile, your life, your choice!
