Phase 1
Don’t wait for all the baby to be gone! Phase 1 treatment at Rise Orthodontics targets the skeletal discrepancies to ensure proper and healthy growth of our young patients. At your initial consultation Dr. Larson will evaluate your child’s bite and ensure that their teeth are on the right path to erupt over time. This phase of treatment usually is about 12-15 months in duration.
Why would my child need Phase 1 treatment?
Dr. Larson will evaluate for any issues including crowding, posterior crossbite, anterior crossbite, lingering habits, open bite, growth asymmetry, mouth breathing, enlarged tonsils or adenoids, tongue ties, “bucky” front teeth.
Trust us, Dr. Larson will discuss all the options to ensure your child is on a healthy path for growth and development, and if none of the issues are present than no treatment is recommended at that time!
Goals of Phase 1:
- Reduce the need to remove permanent teeth
- Establish symmetric facial harmony by influencing jaw growth
- Reduce the risk of trauma to the front teeth
- Preserve space from early loss of baby teeth
- Reduce overall time in braces or aligners
- Tongue tie
Phase 2
Once most of the adult teeth have erupted, phase 2 is the time when all the details are aligned. Generally this phase lasts 12-15 months if a previous phase 1 has been completed. Due to the majority of work being completed in phase 1 most patients are lucky enough to have a shining smile for Homecoming, prom, and every football game and selfie in between then.
